St Albans Independent College is an accredited centre for the AQA, Edexcel (Pearson), OCR and WJEC examining boards. We accept private candidate entries for most A Level and GCSE/IGCSE subjects (excluding subjects with coursework, speaking exams and practical components). Please note we can only facilitate A-level science exam re-sits.
To make an exam entry, please complete a PRIVATE CANDIDATE EXAM ENTRY FORM. The completed form can be emailed to the Exams Officer () or posted to St Albans Independent College, 69 London Road, St Albans, AL1 1LN.
Applications can only be processed if the information provided is accurate and the centre can facilitate the exams.
Exam Entries
When making an exam entry you will be required to provide copies of the following documents:
• The completed Private Candidate Exam Entry Form
• Photo Identification (copy of passport or drivers licence)
• Details of previous exam sittings.

A-level £320 per subject
AS-level £280 per subject
GCSE £220 per subject
Examination fees are paid in advance via bank transfer to the College, details of which can be obtained from the Exams Officer. Applications can only be processed once payment has been received.
Please note the College does not offer entries for winter examinations. The closing date for summer 2021 entries is Friday 29th January 2021.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, there are limited spaces available and therefore the College may not accept all exam entry applications even if they are made before the summer 2021 entry deadline.
If public exams are cancelled the College will be unable to provide Centre Assessed Grades to private candidates and a refund will be paid.
ACCESS ARRANGEMENTS
Access Arrangements can only granted subject to meeting the current regulations laid down by the Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ)
Where possible, the College will aim to facilitate requested access arrangements.
